Booz Allen and SMGA Host 6th Annual Wounded Warrior Golf Tournament
On Monday, October 12th, Booz Allen Hamilton volunteers hosted the 6th Annual Booz Allen-SMGA Wounded Warrior Golf Tournament at Bethesda Country Club. The Salute Military Golf Association’s (SMGA) mission is to provide rehabilitative golf experiences and family inclusive golf opportunities for post 9/11 wounded war veterans in an effort to improve the quality of life for these American heroes. Eligible veterans include those wounded or injured in post 9/11 military operations, including those with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and/or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). The Bethesda Country Club tournament was one of 17 that Booz Allen hosted this year in partnership with SMGA chapters across the country.
In addition to 7 inspiring warrior golfers, 88 Booz Allen leaders, staff, sponsors, and guests participated in the event that lasted from warm-up to a celebratory luncheon. Participants and volunteers were honored by speeches from Booz Allen CEO Horacio Rozanski, Senior VP Rob Silverman, and veteran Jack Schumacher, who captivated the audience with a heartfelt speech about the importance of SMGA and the impact the organization has had on his life.
In the words of Booz Allen’s Maria Darby, “We are privileged for the opportunity to play alongside our country’s heroes.”
