BSR Conference 2019: Hubert Joly, Executive Chairman, Best Buy Co., Inc.

In August 2019, the Business Roundtable declared that the purpose of business is to serve all stakeholders, not just shareholders. This fit in well with the vision of purposeful leadership that Hubert Joly had promoted during his time as Best Buy's CEO.

When Joly became the CEO of the electronics company in 2012, it was at a challenging time in the company’s history thanks to competitors and changing consumer demands. Joly discussed his lessons learned on being a leader and creating a powerful environment for employees, by way of references to philosophy and poetry, on the plenary stage at the BSR Conference 2019.
