Call for Nominations for GRI’s Due Process Oversight Committee
Do you have experience working in international organizations, governments or regulatory bodies, with an interest in and knowledge of international issues related to sustainability reporting? Do you have a sound understanding of standard-setting processes, experience in compliance-processes, and a willingness to serve the public interest in an independent and unbiased manner?
We are seeking five senior individuals of integrity and high reputation to join GRI’s inaugural Due Process Oversight Committee (DPOC). The DPOC has primary responsibility for ensuring that the standard-setting activities of theGlobal Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB) are conducted in accordance with its due process, in order to increase public and stakeholder confidence that the standards are responsive to the public interest.
Developing GRI Standards
GRI Standards are designed to enhance the global comparability and quality of sustainability information, and are developed and approved by the Global Sustainability Standards Board. Globally accepted sustainability reporting standards create a common language for organizations and stakeholders by which impacts of organizations can be communicated and understood. They provide organizations with a standardized way to describe their economic, environmental and social impacts and increase the quality of information available to stakeholders, thereby enabling greater accountability of organizations.
The ‘Due Process Protocol’ sets forth the process for the development of GRI Standards and is designed to ensure that this promotes the public interest and is aligned with GRI’s vision and mission. It ensures that GRI Standards move through a clearly communicated process from project identification, prioritization and commencement through to content development, including public exposure and consideration of feedback received, concluding in the final release. The Due Process Protocol is overseen by the DPOC.
Commitments as a DPOC member
DPOC members will sit on the committee for three years. Members will be involved in approximately four virtual meetings a year and annual in-person meetings as required on matters related to due process.
Participation on the DPOC is voluntary, as is participation on all of GRI’s governance bodies. GRI does not provide reimbursement for the time spent working on committee tasks. If an in-person meeting of the DPOC is required, GRI will reimburse reasonable expenses related to travel to and from the location, and a per-diem amount is provided in accordance with GRI’s travel policy.
