School Feeding Programmes deliver nutrition direct to the classroom, improving children’s health and boosting their capacity to learn, while also helping to stimulate economic development.
The challenge: According to UN World Food Programme, one in three children in Myanmar is chronically malnourished.
The initiative: The Myanmar School Milk Programme was launched in 2013 by the government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, with technical support from Tetra Laval Food for Development.
In 2014, 8.2 billion Tetra Pak packages filled with milk or other nutritious drinks reached 66 million children all around the world. In cooperation with governments, food processors, development agencies and NGO’s, Tetra Pak and Tetra Laval Food for Development are supporting practical implementation of school milk programmes around the world.
