Carbon Solutions Group's New Project-Specific Carbon Offsets Certified by Green‑e Climate
CSG offers certified offsets sourced from landfill methane-capture facilities aimed at LEED green-building projects
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, January 21, 2015 /3BL Media/ — Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) today announced that Carbon Solutions Group (CSG), a project development, environmental asset management, and advisory firm headquartered in Chicago, has begun offering project-specific Green-e® Climate certified carbon offsets.
The new product sources from U.S.-based landfill methane-capture projects that are verified by the Verified Carbon Standard, a voluntary greenhouse gas program and offset project registry. The project reduces overall emissions through the capture and destruction of methane from landfills through combustion engines, with the generated electricity sold to the local grid. CSG customers now have the ability to purchase Green‑e Climate certified offsets from specific projects, giving them greater control over the source of their offsets.
CSG customers will be able to use these Green‑e Climate certified carbon offsets to earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) points in new and existing buildings that are applying for the green-building certification.
"Customers looking for project-level transparency in their carbon offset purchases will be excited to learn about this new Green-e Climate certified option," said Todd Jones, manager of Green-e Climate. "By specifying the individual project that offsets are sourced from, CSG is offering an excellent choice for LEED professionals and businesses alike to help reduce a major source of greenhouse gases."
"Carbon Solutions Group is a leading provider of Green Energy to LEED projects around the world," said CSG Business Director Kory Trapp. Since 2006, CSG has collaborated on over 4,000 LEED Projects to in order to achieve the Green Power points within the different rating systems. In particular, through our efforts in countries where local RECs are not available, we are seeing a growing demand for carbon credits to be used to offset scope 1 and 2 energy emissions. With our launch of Green‑e Climate certified carbon credits, Carbon Solutions Group will be able to offer an additional environmental product that is approved by the USGBC to meet the needs of our clients and continue to lead the way in reducing carbon emissions within the global building sector."
Green-e Climate is the global retail standard for high-quality carbon offsets. It is an independent, third-party certification for utility gas offset programs and competitive gas offset products.
