CBRE’s HS&E Division Senior Associate Crystal Lawson Named Among This Year’s Rising Stars of Safety
LOS ANGELES, September 27, 2019 - CBRE announced that Crystal Lawson, a Health Safety & Environment (HS&E) Senior Associate with its Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) segment, has been selected as one of the Rising Stars of Safety by the National Safety Council (NSC).
Based in CBRE's Dallas, Texas, office, Ms. Lawson works with the GWS Americas HS&E platform providing support and guidance to all the accounts and division directors, ensuring they have the necessary HS&E resources to be successful on a daily basis. Ms. Lawson is responsible for the GWS Americas HS&E website, monthly best practices and quarterly networking platforms, HS&E council management, safety alerts, regulatory tracking, metrics tracking and management, assisting with the Direct 2 Tech program, updating and creating HS&E guidelines and policies, and special projects.
Prior to 2019, Ms. Lawson was working directly with CBRE facility engineers at the business operation level to ensure safe working conditions and operating procedures are implemented. Ms. Lawson was effective at integrating HS&E management systems into her account, including inspections, testing, risk assessment and mitigation. Additionally, Ms. Lawson provided important training on electrical safety, hazardous energy control, personal protective equipment, fall protection and ladder safety to more than 150 account personnel.
“Everyone deserves to go home safe and healthy at the end of the workday,” Ms. Lawson said. She puts this philosophy into practice every day, working to protect people from occupational health hazards, raising awareness of safe work habits, and integrating HS&E best practices into business processes.
“We value Crystal's effort and leadership in maintaining safety standards at our client accounts," said CBRE's Kay Breeden, Senior Managing Director and HS&E leader for Americas GWS. “Crystal's proactive approach to ensuring safe work practices makes her a great role model for everyone in our organization.”
The NSC developed the Rising Stars of Safety award to help shine a light on up-and-coming safety stars. Winners received their awards on September 9, 2019, at the organization's Congress & Expo in San Diego, California.
“A strong workplace safety culture reaches beyond the confines of an organization and into our communities. NSC award winners understand that an employee who prioritizes safety is a community member who will watch out for friends and neighbors,” says Kelly Nantel, Vice President of Communications and Advocacy for the NSC. “They are truly making a difference both at work and at home.”
