Celebrating Women's History Month With Girl Geek X!
To celebrate Women’s History Month in March, Cadence partnered with Girl Geek X for the second time to host another inspiring conference. This virtual, global event featured seven trailblazing leaders at Cadence, who provided motivational advice on women's empowerment and insights from their own unique experiences in technology.
Cadence employees from around the world and Girl Geek’s network of Bay Area professional technologists attended the two-hour event. Alinka Flaminia, Cadence SVP and Chief Legal Officer, kicked off our conversation. The first half of the night consisted of 10-minute “lightning talks,” where three Cadence women presented short and impactful learning lessons to the audience. We then followed with a panel discussion highlighting four passionate leaders and their tips for women in the tech field and ended with an hour of networking. Topics ranged from tools for advancing your career, finding your growth path, amplifying women’s voices through mentorship, and more!
Here are some of the biggest tips our leaders shared:
- Know your worth and what skills you bring to your role. Appreciate your value and unique talents.
- Reflect on what you want and go for it. Don't be afraid to seize opportunities.
- When you know what you want, ask for it. People can't read your mind!
- Loop in your manager and keep them aware of your career goals. See how they can support you in reaching them.
For over a decade, Girl Geek X has provided a platform for 1,000+ women speakers in technology, entrepreneurship, and business, helping women make connections to new jobs, friends, colleagues, and more. We were thrilled to partner with them to showcase the innovative technologies Cadence employees are working on.
