Ceres and UC Berkeley School of Law Announce Fall Session of ESG Course for Corporate Directors
August 23, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Ceres and UC Berkeley School of Law are pleased to announce that registration is open for the fall session of “ESG: Navigating the Board’s Role,” an online course to help corporate directors better understand their role with regards to the environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues of the companies they oversee. This session will run from October 5th through December 6th, 2021.
This online and self-paced course is tailored for corporate directors. In 6-8 hours of required work, this foundational course incorporates cutting edge research from Berkeley Law faculty and Ceres’ industry-leading reports, along with practical insights from experts including investors, board members, corporate executives, legal professionals, academics and leading NGOs.
This course is highly encouraged if you are on a corporate board - or thinking of joining one someday. It may also be appropriate for professionals who routinely work with corporate boards, e.g. as advisors. There will be opportunities for live discussions and virtual networking, alongside recorded lectures, expert interviews, curated resources, and short writing assignments.
As the physical, transitional and systemic issues around climate change become increasingly prominent, it is essential that all corporate directors understand their role in overseeing those risks - and are poised to help their companies capture the opportunities inherent in the transition to a low-carbon economy. This course has limited enrollment, so register today and save your seat.
Course topics addressed:
- Engaging with investors on ESG
- Building ESG competency and fluency on the board
- Structuring board committees for ESG oversight
- Aligning executive compensation with ESG performance
- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating ESG risks
- Disclosing ESG risks and opportunities
Register for “ESG: Navigating the Board’s Role” by August 27th using the code NETWORKING21, and you'll be invited to a networking session on September 2nd exclusively for current and incoming course participants.
Ceres and UC Berkeley School of Law look forward to seeing you in the fall session of “ESG: Navigating the Board’s Role!"
