Chevrolet Donates 2016 Volt to FIRST®

The all-new 2016 Chevrolet Volt electric car with extended range, showcasing a sleeker, sportier design that offers 50 miles of EV range, greater efficiency and stronger acceleration.

DETROIT, November 5, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Chevrolet will donate an all-new 2016 Volt to FIRST®, the K-12 robotics program, to help raise money for student robotics opportunities across the U.S. but particularly for those in communities underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education fields. 

The donation is a natural fit because the Volt exemplifies advances in science and technology, and the funds raised by the auction will help bolster FIRST teams to a diverse body of students, said Chevrolet Marketing Director Steve Majoros.

“The Volt exemplifies technology, and behind the next-generation Chevrolet Volt is a diverse team of engineers who understand the power of science and math,” said Majoros. “FIRST brings science and math alive outside the classroom, just like we are bringing it alive on the road.”

FIRST, the acronym of For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, will auction one of the first 2016 Volts with proceeds supporting the many STEM programs FIRST supports nationwide. The inauguralFIRST Gala was held Wednesday, November 4, in New York City.

Bossi. ”It’s most recent donation of the 2016 Chevy Volt enables us to expose even more students to the life-changing experience of FIRST.”

Chevrolet and FIRST have collaborated for many years. General Motors is a Founding and Strategic Partner toFIRST. In 2014 alone, GM engineers worked with 866 FIRST teams representing 10,000 students across the nation.
