“Citi Call-Ups” Will Bring One Local New York Restaurant up to the Big Leagues to Dish Out Cuisine at Citi Field
Fan Voting to Determine Restaurant Taking Over a Citi Field Concession Starting Friday, June 26th
NEW YORK, May 18, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Citi announced today the launch of the Citi Call-Ups program, which will present a local New York restaurant with the opportunity to showcase its cuisine at Citi Field during the second half of the 2015 New York Mets season. Now in the initiative’s second season, Citi has nominated four independently-owned local neighborhood restaurants to be voted on by fans – with the winning business to be featured alongside some of New York’s premier culinary all-stars.
In an effort to bring New York's favorite flavors to Citi Field, Citi has nominated the following eateries to be added to its star-studded menu:
- Bagel Stuffins by Bantam Bagels, which serves up unique mini stuffed bagel balls;
- Crepes and Delices, an authentic French creperie;
- Randolph Beer, a soulful American gastropub; and
- Zengo, an Asian-Latin fusion restaurant.
Beginning today and continuing through Sunday, May 31st, fans are encouraged to vote for a restaurant online at www.mets.com/citicallups. Fans attending a game at Citi Field from May 25th to May 31st can also vote for a winner at the Citi Call-Ups booth located at the top of the Jackie Robinson Rotunda. On Friday, June 26th, the winning restaurant will “take over” a Citi Field concession stand, where it will enjoy a highly visible and trafficked location, along with the opportunity to introduce its cuisine to thousands of fans through September 2nd.
“We are proud to team up with the New York Mets once again to support local businesses,” said Robert Kleiber, Head of Small Business at Citi. “The Citi Call-Ups program will help bring the unique flavors of New York to Citi Field, and we look forward to seeing which restaurant fans choose to be called up to the majors.”
In 2014, as part of the inaugural Call-Ups program, Corfu Grill, a Greek restaurant in the heart of Forest Hills, Queens, was selected by fans to be a member of Citi Field’s culinary lineup for the remainder of the season. Votes were cast over the two-week voting period that ended with Corfu Grill as the winner. The restaurant served gyros, chicken kebobs and hummus at its concession location at Citi Field.
