Here in the Northeast, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) is part of a legacy of clean energy leadership, which sets an annual cap for the region’s aggregate greenhouse gas emissions across nine states. The first cooperative effort of its kind, RGGI is a critical tool empowering businesses such as Timberland to invest in our future while also reducing costs.
In particular, RGGI sets a limit on carbon pollution from power plants throughout Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont, while at the same time generating revenue for statewide energy efficiency programs.
