Coronavirus: Helping Medical Professionals, Students and Our Community
Safety is our #1 value. At JetBlue, we remain focused on the safety and well being of our crewmembers and customers. Air travel is an essential global service and we are committed to meeting travel needs, some of which are critical. During this time of uncertainty, we remain committed to our mission of Inspiring Humanity and our social impact pillars – community and youth/education. This includes our main resources – flights and assets from our network of partners.
JetBlue is currently working with many of our community non-profit partners as well as NGOs to help get medical professionals and much-needed supplies to the places where they are needed most. Interested in supporting organizations in your local community? Here are a few ways we’re helping our community partners, if you’d like to join us in supporting:
Transporting Medical Professionals and Medical Supplies
American Red Cross
We’ve granted one million TrueBlue points to the Red Cross to help the organization continue to deliver its lifesaving work – both today and in the months ahead. This could mean transporting Red Cross personnel, including disaster relief volunteers and blood collection employees, as well as shipping of lifesaving blood products. During this public health crisis, the American Red Cross will continue to have an ongoing critical need for blood donors and blood drive hosts to maintain a sufficient blood supply in the weeks to come. Healthy individuals are needed to donate to help patients counting on lifesaving blood. Click here to learn how to donate safely and in compliance with local directives.
Americares
We’re supporting this non-profit disaster relief and global health organization in efforts to provide access to personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, gowns, gloves as well as medicines and other supplies to frontline health workers. Americares is also providing COVID-19 training and tele-mentoring support to health centers in infection prevention and control, preparedness, and mental health. Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)
We’re working together to support their critical needs, including helping members return home when needed to assist in their local communities, moving critical supplies and supporting US operations as needs shift. To support Doctors Without Borders directly click here.
Helping Students With Flights Home
Together We Rise
As dorms and school housing are being shut down, some students are vulnerable to being displaced, especially foster youth dependent upon college housing. In partnership with our longstanding partner – Together We Rise, we are providing flights to students needing help getting to family and friends or a permanent housing situation. Supporting Local Food Banks
Food Bank for New York City
Local food banks like Food Bank For New York City are taking proactive steps to protect the local communities who rely on them. As our hometown’s leading hunger-relief organization, Food Bank remains focused on providing food and resources to New Yorkers in need, including those who may be quarantined, and low-income families impacted by school closings and the economic downturn. To help them package meals for seniors and other vulnerable communities, JetBlue is donating resources such as bags for these packaged meals. To volunteer or donate to the Food Bank for New York City click here and to support food banks nationwide visit Feeding America.
