CSR at Bombardier: Managing Responsibly - Operations
June 27,2013 /3BL Media/ - Everywhere we work, our goal is to operate to high standards of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance. Our HSE Policy, signed by our President and CEO, and our HSE Council guide our work.
All of our entities have dedicated HSE teams responsible for working – in partnership with line management – to gather and apply HSE best practices and to ensure that all sites are instituting our HSE Preventive Culture. The HSE Preventive Culture is also embedded in our companywide continuous improvement programs (the Achieving Excellence System at Aerospace and Corporate Office and the Bombardier Operations System at Transportation) that help us drive progress in all aspects of our internal activities to improve business outcomes.
HSE considerations are taken into account not only once a plant is up and running, but also at the very beginning of new programs and sites. For example, as we construct new sites in Morocco and Brazil, we are integrating our HSE System tools and standards, addressing any HSE risks and impacts from the very beginning.
In 2012 we:
- Reduced our water consumption by 12.6% since 2010, exceeding our goal to reduce water consumption between 2010 and 2012 by 3%, based on 2009 data.
- Held the second HSE Leadership Conference to align HSE best practices across the organization.
- Implemented 12 Green Fund projects to improve our environmental performance.
