CSX Earns Spot on CDP’s Supplier A List
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., January 26, 2016 /3BL Media/ – As CSX continues to maximize its role as the most fuel efficient and environmentally friendly way to move goods over land, the company announced today that it achieved a position on the CDP Supplier A List for 2015. The CDP assessment recognizes companies whose supply chain programs help customers make responsible decisions that reduce carbon emissions and support sustainability goals.
"At CSX, it starts with the customer, and our commitments to them are significant and wide-ranging,” said Carl Gerhardstein, assistant vice president, public safety, health, and environment, CSX. "This recognition is proof of the hard work of our people, our investment in fuel efficient technology, and our focus on providing customers with the transparent information they need to make smart, sustainable business decisions.”
Out of thousands of suppliers who submitted information to CDP, CSX is part of the top two percent who received an A grade for their supply chain disclosures. This recognition follows the November 2015 announcement that CSX made the Climate A List 2015 on CDP’s Global Performance Report; CSX was the only railroad company to be included on the Climate A List 2015.
CDP is an international nongovernmental organization that aims to help companies better understand and manage their environmental impacts. CDP performance scores, compiled by FirstCarbon Solutions, serve as an evaluation tool for corporate buyers, highlighting supplier companies' efforts to reduce their carbon footprints and optimize performance.
