Dallas School to Be Honored for Their Fight Against Blood Cancer

Parish Episcopal School has been leading the charge in the fight against blood cancers and disorders in Dallas for 10 years. By hosting drives and fundraisers, the school has put becoming a registered donor on the map. At the annual DKMS Awards breakfast in Dallas on November 21st, the school will be honored with the Community Partner Award in recognition of their commitment to the DKMS mission.

Sparked by the story of former student Zach Guillot, who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, the school held a drive and added 1,018 potential lifesavers to the global donor pool. They also raised $19,000 for DKMS to support registering even more donors.

When Zach passed away, the school held a second drive in his memory and since then, students have been active in hosting donor drives and volunteering at DKMS events and fundraisers. Several students have and continue to serve on the DKMS Youth Advisory Board.
