DataKind Hosts NYC Event for Pro Bono Week
DataKind is Thrilled to be participating in Pro Bono Week on October 20-26th
September 17, 2013 /3BL Media/ - On October 22, DataKind will be hosting a Meetup on data science in the nonprofit sector. Details to come at http://www.meetup.com/DataKind-NYC/.
On October 23, DataKind will participate in Pro Bono Day at the Centre for Social Innovation in Chelsea.
Throughout the week, our DataCorps teams will be getting ready to launch their data science analyses with four great nonprofits: The Mission Continues, Thorn, Medic Mobile and GiveDirectly. These teams will meet every week for the next two - three months, in order to deliver a data-driven solution to help each non-profit build their capacity and achieve their missions.
DataKind’s vision of change is to empower nonprofits to do more and do better with the help of data science. Our mission is to connect talented data scientists who want to volunteer for stellar non-profits to help change the world. We believe in the power of pro bono work and are proud members of the Taproot community.

About Pro Bono Service
Pro bono--short for pro bono publico, "for the public good"—refers to professional services delivered without expectation of a fee to organizations serving the social good. It is both a form of support for community organizations as well as an increasingly core part of the ethic of business professionals from design to HR and technology, who believe that high-quality professional services are too important to only be available to those who can afford them.
