Summary: The world as we knew it has changed due to SARS-CoV-2, aka coronavirus. Many human behaviors have adapted to this new Covid-19 era due to the great upheaval of the pandemic. This in turn has changed entire economies, business sectors, and how we as humans interact with each other in public space. Even with vaccines and new social practices to minimize the spread of coronavirus, the effects of this new era are here to stay, as variants and potential new strains loom in the future. Therefore, architects and designers need to adopt current methodologies for buildings, which will allow people to come back to public space safely, and remain so. This CEU will explore strategies for designing floorscapes in the Covid-19 era now and in the future, where flooring solutions can be employed to plan with visual cues, systems thinking, and best practices for human-centered design.
