State College police detective Deirdri Fishel is the recipient of Verizon Corp.’s 2012 Shared Success Award.
The award, presented last month by Verizon Wireless CEO Dan Mead at the company’s headquarters in Basking Ridge, N.J., recognizes Fishel’s work on a PBS documentary about domestic violence. The film, “Telling Amy’s Story,” was about the murder of State College resident and Verizon employee Amy Homan McGee, whose husband shot her after she told him to leave.
Verizon Foundation awarded $10,000 in Fishel’s name to a domestic violence program. She presented the check to the Centre County Women’s Resource Center.
