DIRECTV Awards 101 Scholarships to Children of Employees in the U.S. and Latin America
The 2015 DIRECTV Scholarship Program has awarded 101 scholarships to children of employees in the U.S. and Latin America pursuing a postsecondary degree. The DIRECTV Scholarship Program, now in its fifth year, was created to further DIRECTV’s investment in its employees and enhance the company’s commitment to education. This year’s scholarships were awarded to children of employees in 21 states and seven countries in Latin America.
Ninety-five general awards were given to recipients based on financial need, academic merit and community involvement. Four STEM Achievement Awards were given to top-ranking students pursuing degrees in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering or math).
The 2015 DIRECTV Scholarship Program also included two special awards:
- The Susan Eid Public Policy Award: granted to an applicant pursuing a degree in Public Policy or Government Affairs; established in memory of the late Susan Eid who was head of Government & Regulatory Affairs for DIRECTV from 2004 to 2014.
- DIRECTV Social Impact Award: granted to an applicant with a demonstrated commitment to the community and/or environment.
