Dr. Cornel West To Keynote the 2nd Annual National Black Men in Leadership Summit
DETROIT, July 21, 2022 /3BL Media/ - The Michigan Diversity Council (MIDC) presents The 2nd Annual National Black Men in Leadership Summit taking place on Thursday, August 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST at Fort Pontchartrain Hotel. The event, in partnership with the National Diversity Council (NDC) will focus on the theme “Resilient Leadership: Connection, Community and Contribution.”
“Despite progress over the years, Black men continue to be underrepresented in the C-Suite, boards and executive leadership teams,” said Dennis Kennedy, the founder and board chairman of the National Diversity Council. “It is time to commit to increasing advancement opportunities for Black men in workplaces and communities.”
The hybrid conference is a leadership development event, gathering Black male professionals and allies across industries, job functions and interests. The summit will feature a keynote by Dr. Cornel West, professor, philosopher, author and activist. General panel discussions and breakout sessions will focus on leadership development and advancement topics.
“It is critical that we create more opportunities for diverse representation in the C-Suite and beyond,” said Angeles Valenciano, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Diversity Council. “Our agenda of distinguished speakers, insightfully themed panel discussions, and workshops will educate and inspire attendees.”
“The advancement of Black Men must start at the high school level and be carried out until they reach the CSuite/Corporate board level. Mentorship and Sponsorship has to afforded at all stages of their developed. This is how true impact is made,” said Darlene King, Executive Director of the Michigan Diversity Council.
