Dr Pepper Snapple Group Launches Green Partnership With SCA
Green partnership mobilizes employee volunteers and promotes sustainable communities
(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) Charlestown, NH - March 17, 2011 - The Student Conservation Association (SCA), the nation's leading conservation service organization for youth, has named Dr Pepper Snapple Group (NYSE: DPS) its Official Beverage Partner under a new $200,000 agreement in which the two will mobilize employee volunteers, engage consumers in active lifestyles, and promote sustainable communities.
SCA officials indicate a cornerstone of the partnership will be a series of conservation service events throughout 2011 in which SCA members, DPS personnel and local residents will join forces to restore parks, trails and other natural resources in communities hosting DPS operations. Additionally, financial support from DPS will enable SCA to expand internship opportunities for college and graduate students on public lands nationwide.
"Dr Pepper Snapple Group shares SCA's values of environmental stewardship and citizen service, and this partnership will transform our environment and communities for years to come," states SCA President and CEO Dale Penny. "We look forward to engaging new friends and neighbors in conservation service and are deeply appreciative of DPS's generous support."
"Helping communities begins by taking action," adds Tina Barry, executive vice president of corporate affairs for DPS, "and our partnership with SCA effectively aligns with the philanthropic priority DPS has placed on supporting environmental sustainability initiatives. With more than 50 years of experience in developing environmental stewards, SCA is a potent and passionate partner in community conservation, and we're looking forward to working with them."
Local conservation service projects will include park, watershed and trail restoration as well as recycling and sustainability initiatives.
