#DressForAus: Supporting Disaster Relief Efforts for the Australian Wildfires
In a special eBay auction, ‘Fleabag’ actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge is auctioning off her Golden Globes awards tuxedo, with all proceeds being donated to Australian wildfire relief efforts.
Australia is facing a devastating wildfire crisis that’s expected to continue over the next few weeks. To support our Australian family and friends in their disaster relief efforts, eBay Australia is hosting a special auction with actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge for a custom tuxedo she wore to this month’s Golden Globes awards ceremony.
Phoebe wore the Ralph & Russo couture tuxedo as she accepted the 2020 Golden Globes award for Best Actress for her work on the hit TV show, “Fleabag.”
The tuxedo, signed by Phoebe, will be up for auction until Sunday, Jan. 19 on eBay.
All auction proceeds will be donated to three Australian organizations helping with disaster relief and wildlife recovery efforts. Funds from the winning bid will be split among the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund; the WIRES Wildlife Rescue Emergency Fund; and Wildlife Victoria that were selected by Phoebe.
Gifts That Give Back
These donations range in value, from $5 to $100, and have been set up in partnership with Direct Relief, American Red Cross, Global Giving and Salvation Army.
In addition, eBay Australia and Gumtree Australia have each donated $100,000 to the Australian Red Cross. eBay also is encouraging its employees from around the globe to donate to relevant charities assisting in the relief efforts and to take advantage of the company matching program. In 2018, eBay matched $1 million in employee donations.
U.S. shoppers also can visit the charity shop to donate directly to charities helping with the Australian wildfire disaster relief efforts through eBay for Charity’s Gifts That Gives Back program.
