Ecolab Ranked 47th Most Sustainable Corporation by Corporate Knights
Ecolab recently ranked 47th among Corporate Knights' 2015 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World index, which is announced each year during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
Companies named to the Global 100 index are the top overall sustainability performers in their respective industrial sectors, selected from a starting universe of 4,609 companies with a market capitalization greater than $2 billion (USD). The Global 100 is determined using twelve quantitative sustainability indicators, including the amount of revenue companies generate per unit of energy consumed and lost-time injury rate.
Ecolab's business focus is to provide and protect what is vital: clean water, safe food, abundant energy and healthy environments. Fundamental to Ecolab's approach is an understanding that real and lasting change is accelerated when economic, environmental and social benefits align. With a broad suite of technologies and expertise, Ecolab helps companies across industries make lasting transformations to their operations by minimizing environmental impact while improving performance and reducing total cost of operations.
The company’s commitment to environmental stewardship also is evident through continuous improvement of its own operations. In 2014, Ecolab set new 2017 sustainability targets, including a 25 percent reduction in effluent discharge and waste, a 20 percent reduction in water use and a 10 percent reduction in greenhouse gas, all from a 2012 baseline.
