Ecosystems Evaluation Workshop To Be Offered In January By International Society of Sustainability Professionals

December 3, 2012 /3BL Media/ - Ecosystems have economic value far beyond resources that can be extracted, liquidated, owned or sold. Just how can that full economic value be ultimately quantified and measured? Beginning January 3, The International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) will offer a workshop on tools and methods to understand, assess and measure ecosystem dynamics and value generation. Participants will hone skills they can use to plan sustainability projects and develop resource management systems that efficiently and effectively support human activities while minimizing the impacts on the regenerative capacity of nature.
The interactive course will be taught by James Pittman, an ecological economist, professional consultant and educator with over two decades immersed in sustainability challenges and opportunities. James has served clients including the President’s Council on Sustainable Development, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service, the U.S. Department of Energy, the City of Washington DC, the Washington State Department of Ecology, a Fortune 50 software corporation, as well as various other agencies, corporations, non-profits and public utilities.
Live webinar sessions will be offered Thursday January 3, 10, 17 and 24, 2013 at 10 am PT / noon CT / 1 pm ET for 60-90 minutes. The workshop will be delivered on-line and via the Internet with live weekly webinars and a 24/7 on-line 'classroom' experience. Successful completion of this workshop can be applied as an elective credit towards the ISSP Sustainability Professionals Certificate. About James Pittman
James specializes in creative ways to span interpersonal and technological worlds for innovation in communication as well as design and creation of change initiatives at personal, organizational, community and national scales. He manages all aspects of triple bottom line sustainability assessment, planning and implementation for operations at Prescott College, also supporting curricular integration and teaching in BA/MA/PhD programs. He also teaches in the Bainbridge Graduate Institute M.B.A. Program in Sustainable Business and the Ecosa Institute for Regenerative Ecological Design.
James holds a M.Sc. awarded with distinction in Ecological Economics from the University of Edinburgh, a M.A. in Whole Systems Design from Antioch University Seattle, and a B.A. in Ecopsychology and Sustainability Education from Prescott College. He has also completed certificates and trainings with the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute, the International Institute for Organization Systems Renewal, The Natural Step International and the Permaculture Drylands Institute.
