EU Brands Unite After Bangladesh Disaster, U.S. Falls Behind

The devastating aftermath from the collapse of a Bangladesh factory in April, left 1,129 people dead and retailers under fire. European industries since have united together to prevent furthermore fatalities for garment factory workers. A total of 70 companies have joined the five-year legal global agreement, in which over the next nine months they will be conducting inspections of Bangladesh factories and renovation. Approximately 800 to a 1000 factories will be under evaluation. Out of the 70 retailers that have pledged to create a safe environment, only a few are American.
