Fighting Food Insecurity: CNH Industrial Helps Wisconsin Food Bank Feed Hungry Americans
Hunger in America has skyrocketed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving food banks struggling to meet demand. To help people dealing with food insecurity, CNH Industrial has donated $7,500 to the Hunger Task Force, Wisconsin’s leading anti-hunger organization.
The support was provided by the company’s Case IH facility in Racine, WI through the CNH Industrial Solidarity Fund, which helps local communities across the United States that are struggling with the impacts of COVID-19. It is now estimated that more than 50 million Americans could face food insecurity as a result of COVID-19.
In addition to running Milwaukee’s only free local food bank, Hunger Task Force also runs a 208-acre farm that grows over 500,000 pounds of fresh produce for Milwaukee’s hungry. The farm normally relies on more than 5,000 community volunteers to help with farm activities throughout the growing season, which was not possible this year due to the pandemic.
The CNH Industrial donation helped ensure farm operations could continue during this unprecedented year.
“Americans are struggling to cope with the fallout from the pandemic, and we are proud to be able to do our part to support organizations like the Hunger Task Force, who are on the frontlines helping local communities address hunger and food insecurity,” says Bonnie Sikora, Racine HR Manager, CNH Industrial.
The company has an ongoing relationship with the Hunger Task Force, which is part of its global commitment to sustainability and community engagement, and meeting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, one of which focuses on “Zero Hunger”.
CNH Industrial manufactures and markets construction and agricultural equipment under its Case IH, New Holland Agriculture, CASE Construction Equipment and New Holland Construction brands, as well as powertrains for FPT Industrial in North America.
