Freeport-McMoRan’s Climax-Area Community Investment Fund Awards over $300,000 in Grants

Climax Molybdenum recently awarded $300,400 to area nonprofits through the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation's 2019 Climax-Area Community Investment Fund.

The 2019 grant recipients are:

Lake County

  • Cloud City Wheelers
    • Cloud City Wheelers Trail Crew – $33,500
  • Lake County Community Foundation
    • "We Love Leadville" Tribute Landmark and Park Revitalization – $38,500
  • National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum
    • Matchless Mine Hoist House Rehabilitation – $29,000
  • Lake County School District
    • Advancing Academics through Afterschool – $35,000
  • Chaffee County Chaffee Housing Trust
    • Permanent Affordability Home Ownership Project – $44,400
  • Chaffee County Search and Rescue-North
    • CCSAR-N Unmanned Aerial System – $25,000

Summit County

  • The Cycle Effect
    • Summit County Girls Mountain Bike Program – $10,000

Multi-County

  • Volunteer for Outdoor Colorado
    • People Power on our Public Lands: Investing in Sustained Volunteerism – $20,000
  • Colorado Farm to Table
    • Lake, Chaffee and Summit County Food Support – $15,000

The CIF was established in 2011, as part of Freeport-McMoRan’s goal to empower communities to develop and identify projects that would help ensure their self-sufficiency beyond the presence of Freeport-McMoRan operations. Since its inception, the Climax Area CIF has invested over $3.3 million in locally identified projects.
