Freeport-McMoRan’s Safford, Arizona Community Investment Fund Awards $100,000 in Grants
March 28, 2019 /3BL Media/ - The Freeport-McMoRan Community Investment Fund (CIF) recently selected the recipients and awarded grants totaling $100,000 for various improvement projects in Safford, Arizona.
The Safford CIF is overseen by a committee of community leaders assembled by the Freeport-McMoRan Community Partnership Panel to identify and address community needs in health care, education, environment, economic development and transportation.
The CIF was established in 2011, as part of Freeport-McMoRan’s objectives to empower communities to develop and identify projects that would help ensure their self-sufficiency beyond the presence of Freeport-McMoRan operations.
- The Safford Downtown Association received $50,000 for signage and murals in downtown Safford
- The CIF and United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties jointly awarded $75,000 to be used to improve La Tierra Park. United Way’s share of the grant was $50,000, and Freeport-McMoRan’s was $25,000.
- The City of Safford’s Planning and Community Development department received $25,000 for playground equipment and landscaping
