Gildan Receives the FUNDAHRSE CSR Seal for the Ninth Consecutive Year
For the ninth consecutive year, Gildan was the recipient of the FUNDAHRSE CSR Seal awarded by the Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility in Honduras (Fundación Hondureña de Responsabilidad Social Empresarial - FUNDAHRSE). This year, 64 companies received the award, with Gildan being the longest standing recipient in the apparel sector.
FUNDAHRSE is a Honduran organization that promotes the management of responsible businesses and works to boost the competitiveness of small, medium and large companies by promoting the strategic integration of respect for ethical values, people, communities and the environment in a company’s decision making and business management processes.
This recognition by FUNDAHRSE highlights the work of companies that demonstrate high standards and a strong commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Gildan was selected out of many companies in Honduras that were pre-screened and invited to apply for the award.
In order to earn this recognition, FUNDAHRSE evaluates categories related to employee and community relations, human rights, labour practices, governance, marketing, environment, and operational practices, through a comprehensive annual questionnaire.
“We are pleased to be recognized as a company with leading CSR efforts, reinforcing our commitment to provide ethical, healthy and safe work environments for our employees, respond to the needs of our communities and implement innovative systems and processes to reduce our impact on the environment,” said Claudia Sandoval, Vice President – Corporate Citizenship, Central America & Caribbean Basin, Gildan.
Companies that meet or exceed FUNDAHRSE standards are selected as recipients of the award, which highlight their commitment towards the community and their consistency with their corporate values, mission and vision.
Now in the 10th year of the award, this year’s ceremony took place on September 29th at Tegucigalpa. The award was received in the presence of FUNDAHRSE representatives and other recipient companies that are members of the Foundation.
