GM Foundation Donates $115,000 to 16 Flint-area Organizations
Funding levels increase by 50 percent over 2011, allowing nonprofits to reach more children, families and seniors in need
(3BL Media) Flint, MI – August 27, 2012 – The General Motors Foundation today announced grants totaling $115,000 to support programs at 16 Flint-area nonprofits and organizations that serve children, adults and seniors.
This is the third year in a row the GM Foundation has issued grants in the Flint area. It also is an increase from the $75,000 issued to 15 charities in 2011.
“The communities that our employees and their families call home are important to the General Motors Foundation,” said GM Foundation President Vivian Pickard. “The grants that we provide benefit education, community centers, cultural organizations and many other important areas of focus that strengthen and improve these communities.”
The GM Foundation distributed 16, grants to the following organizations:
- Urban League of Flint
- Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Flint
- Flint River Watershed Coalition
- Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Genesee County
- Water & Woods Council, Boy Scouts of America
- Girl Scouts of Southeast Michigan
- Friends of Alfred Sloan Museum
- YWCA of Greater Flint (Safe House)
- Resource Genesee
- Junior Achievement
- Valley Area Agency on Aging
- Food Bank of Eastern Michigan
- Motherly Intercession
- Flint Children’s Museum
- Hispanic Technology Community Center
- Wounded Warriors (Fenton High School)
