GoDaddy Unveils First Ever Environmental, Social and Governance Report
GoDaddy is committed to creating a better world. As a global company it is our responsibility to actively monitor and measure our contributions back to our people, our customers, our stakeholders, and our environment and we are proud to share these contributions for the first time with the release of our inaugural 2020 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report.
Not only does the report get to the heart of our impact on the world today, but it gives us the opportunity to dig into how we can expand that impact in meaningful ways. That’s what this report is all about - where are we today, and how we can do more in the future.
The ESG Report shows that, unsurprisingly, we’re already working hard to deliver for our customers, our stakeholders, our society, our industry, and our people. Our Empower program supports entrepreneurs in underserved communities, the Venture Forward research project proves the importance of microbusinesses in society, we are delivering meaningful innovation for our customers, we earned a perfect score in the Human Rights Campaign’s 2020 Corporate Equality Index for the third year in a row, and we reported pay parity across the organization for the sixth consecutive year.
While we celebrate those wins, we also landed on three strategic ESG pillars to guide our focus moving forward – Operations, Customers, and Employees.
Customer Experience
We’re proud that GoDaddy’s customer retention rate has exceeded 85% for over five consecutive years. In 2020, the retention rate for customers who had been with the company for over three years was approximately 93%. These stats aren’t just a coincidence, we believe our customers should have great technology and great customer support. Serving our customers’ needs creates a deep relationship where we’re not just a solution provider, but also a guide to partner on their entrepreneurial journey.
Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging
GoDaddy is a global company and nurturing a culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging across the globe is part of our DNA. Through a variety of internal and external efforts, the company strives for inclusion and equality for all employees. For example, GoDaddy has achieved pay parity for women six years in a row and for minorities for the fourth consecutive year – it is an achievement we’re proud of. GoDaddy also has 11 different Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), including Black in Tech and United (LGBTQ+), that bring together more than 6,000 employees across a variety of backgrounds. For one GoDaddy employee, it was internal resources like this that gave her the confidence and ability to openly transition without fear of being fired or ridiculed by peers.
Innovation
Over the last year, GoDaddy has prioritized and empowered every group – from engineering to product development to marketing – to experiment big and small. This encouraged experimentation has helped the company to record revenue and customer growth. When the pandemic hit we knew we needed to find a way for our customers to keep their businesses open, if their physical doors were closed. It was through an increased pace of innovation that we were able to keep up with the digital demand and continue to provide new products and services for our customers.
Talent Management and Engagement
In our annual engagement survey, 91.3% of respondents said that GoDaddy gives them the flexibility to manage other aspects of their life while working from home. Since the beginning of the global pandemic, we’ve taken a human-first approach. Employee safety, health and well-being has been our number-one priority. We know there will always be more work to do on this front, but seeing the results in our engagement survey shows that we’re headed on the right path.
