Harris LithoGraphics Joins Green-e Marketplace with 100% Renewable Energy Use
Landover, MD–based printer powers its entire operation with certified wind energy
SAN FRANCISCO, C.A., December 20, 2012 /3BL Media - Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) announced today that Harris LithoGraphics, a full-service printing company in Landover, MD, has joined Green-e® Marketplace after purchasing enough certified renewable energy certificates from U.S.–based wind energy through Clean Currents, to meet 100 percent of the total annual electricity needs for the printer's entire U.S. operations. By participating in Green-e Marketplace, Harris LithoGraphics can now display the Green-e logo to inform its customers of its commitment to clean, renewable energy.

Harris LithoGraphics’ sustainability efforts extend beyond their renewable energy purchase. The company uses only vegetable based inks instead of petroleum based products, and their print runs are tightly scheduled, which reduces the amount of ink used. Harris was also the first printer in the U.S. to receive chain-of-custody certification from the Forest Stewardship Council for its operations in 2003.

This program promotes renewable electricity in the print supply chain by granting use of the Green-e logo to organizations that source both their paper and printing through Green-e Marketplace Certified printers and paper lines.
