A High Standard of Transparency and Accountability: Sands ESG Report
March 16, 2021 /3BL Media/ - The Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report focuses on our sustainability and community betterment efforts, while also emphasizing our governance practices. In this latter category, the report details the composition of our Board of Directors, our community safeguard efforts through Sands Project Protect and our commitment to the health, safety and well-being of our Team Members and guests.
Holding high standards of transparency and accountability, guided by a strong corporate governance system, results in purposeful decision-making. Our Board of Directors is collectively responsible for corporate governance, and our company directors know that a good governance structure is key to our success and responsible operations. As detailed in the ESG Report, a plurality of our directors have a tenure between five and nine years, and a majority of them are independent directors, as well, creating a combined effect of an experienced, competent board that retains the independence necessary to make critical decisions to benefit the company as a whole.
The Report also explores our promotion of ensuring an ethical business environment, by way of Sands Project Protect and our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics – the principles of which are respecting individuals, protecting the company and shareholders, doing business ethically and legally and enhancing our communities. We are keenly focused on operating our business and developing Team Member culture without regard for race, color, religion, language, pregnancy, ancestry, age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, mental or physical disability, genetic information or marital or veteran status.
Through Sands Project Protect and adherence to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, we have trained 327 Responsible Gaming Ambassadors at our properties, ensured that 98.2% of Team Members have successfully completed anti-money laundering training and have delivered counter-human trafficking training to 97% of Team Members.
An unwavering commitment to health and safety is also one of our paramount concerns. We follow all applicable safety protocols covering public health and environmental laws in the operation of our resorts. Beyond what is required by law or regulation, our health and safety departments make sure all facilities are maintained to a high standard of sanitation, and that Team Members are prepared to act in an emergency, should one arise.
