Hilton Worldwide Calls on Customers to Get Hands On in the Community
Over 300 Volunteer in Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans, San Diego and San Francisco
McLean, Va., June 24, 2013 /3BL Media/ – Last week, Hilton Worldwide’s sales team invited customers in Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans, San Diego and San Francisco – to get Hands On in the community for the second consecutive year.
In partnership with each city’s HandsOn Network affiliate, an enterprise of Points of Light, more than 300 volunteers participated in projects identified by HandsOn Bay Area, RightHand Events, HandsOn New Orleans, Chicago Cares and HandsOn Atlanta that benefited inner city youth, the elderly, homeless youth and youth with disabilities.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the HandsOn Network for a second year,” said Jennifer Silberman, vice president, corporate responsibility, Hilton Worldwide. “We look forward to continuing to work together to create opportunities for our Team Members and their surrounding communities across the country to Travel with PurposeTM where they work, live and travel.”
Volunteer activities varied by location and included:
- Beautifying the outdoor and indoor areas of school grounds, including painting classrooms and hallways, landscaping outdoor areas, constructing storage for classrooms, and creating mosaics;
- Preparing meals to be delivered to the homeless and the elderly;
- Re-painting the living area of a rehabilitation center for the homeless; and
- Engaging with the homeless youth.
In 2011, Hilton Worldwide launched Travel with PurposeTM, its commitment to providing shared value to its business and communities around the world. Travel with Purpose is built on four areas of focus - creating opportunities for individuals to reach their full potential; strengthening communities where we operate; celebrating cultures and the power of travel; and living sustainably through the measurement, analysis and improvement of our use of natural resources.
