H&M Customers Contribute to Clean Water in Bangladesh
November 15, 2013 /3BL Media/ - This year´s holiday campaign at H&M has a giving theme. Customers will have the opportunity to make a real difference for families in Bangladesh who are currently living without clean water and toilets.
H&M customers are offered an easy way to contribute to WaterAid’s work through H&M’s specially designed gift cards. For every 10 EUR added to a gift card, the H&M Conscious Foundation will through WaterAid make a donation to help poor communities in Bangladesh gain long-term access to life’s most basic needs: clean water, sanitation and good hygiene.
Nearly 200,000 people are estimated to be reached through projects that WaterAid will carry out over three years. As an extension of this, 4 million people are expected to indirectly benefit from these projects.
“I am delighted that this holiday season H&M’s customers will once again be helping WaterAid transform the lives of thousands of the world’s poorest people through safe water, sanitation and hygiene. H&M has supported WaterAid since 2002 and has previously raised over £2.7 million for our water and sanitation projects in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Thanks to these donations we have been able to help 180,000 people to take the first steps out of poverty”, says Barbara Frost, WaterAid’s Chief Executive.
H&M recognizes how important it is for everyone to use natural resources responsibly. Water is a key resource and H&M has worked with water on different levels for more than ten years.
