Holiday Roadway Safety Message from Republic Services

More than 100 million Americans are expected to take a road trip this holiday season, according to AAA. With so many motorists out and about, to include waste collection trucks operating throughout the holidays, we can each do our part to keep roadways safe this season.

As a 2015 Driver of the Year award recipient, I want to share my top safety tips before I hit the road with my family.

  1. Allow plenty of travel time.
     
  2. Check weather conditions before departing.
     
  3. Buckle up, and make sure your vehicle is ready for the journey.
     
  4. Avoid distractions such as phones and texting, adjusting a navigational device or unrestrained pets.
     
  5. Remember -- Slow Down to Get Around -- any collection trucks or other large vehicles you encounter.
