The Home Depot Foundation Invests More Than $1.4 Million to Support Affordable Housing Across Atlanta
June 16, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Today, The Home Depot Foundation announced it has invested an additional $1.4 million among Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, HouseProud Atlanta and Quest Community Development, in support of affordable housing for veterans and residents in Atlanta. Together with these hometown nonprofit partners, the Foundation will continue its mission to provide critical home repairs and supportive affordable housing for under-resourced communities.
The funding granted to Atlanta Habitat for Humanity will support the completion of 25 no-cost critical home repairs and 10 exterior beautification home projects for Atlanta residents.
“Atlanta Habitat is grateful to have The Home Depot Foundation as a partner in our critical home repair program that targets homeowners who are often the bedrock of many of Atlanta’s communities,” said Atlanta Habitat President and CEO, Lisa Y. Gordon. “Through this partnership, Atlanta Habitat and Home Depot are changing the quality of life for legacy homeowners.”
Through the grant provided to HouseProud Atlanta, the Foundation will help complete at least 20 critical home repairs for senior veterans across the Metro Atlanta area. The grant will also support 20 critical home repairs for residents living in Westside neighborhoods.
"HouseProud is thrilled to receive these vital funds from The Home Depot Foundation,” said Lisa Flowers, HouseProud Atlanta’s Executive Director. “We utilize these important dollars to provide critical, no-cost repairs to low-income veterans and homeowners living on Atlanta's Westside. Contributions of this size are more important than ever as we continue to support some of the city's most vulnerable neighbors"
Quest Community Development will use the grant funding to expand their residential services through a new property, Heritage at Westlake. Heritage at Westlake will provide 102 units of supportive affordable housing on Atlanta’s Westside.
“Quest’s partnership with The Home Depot Foundation began about 10 years ago with the support of our veterans housing program,” said Leonard L. Adams, President and CEO of Quest Communities. “The relationship quickly blossomed into The Home Depot supporting every major Quest project over the last decade. The Home Depot Foundation clearly understands our mission and recognizes the need and value of the services we provide. For this, we are exceedingly grateful.”
These efforts further The Home Depot Foundation’s commitment to its hometown and its hometown nonprofit partners. Over the last decade, the Foundation has invested more than $90 million to support Atlanta communities with affordable housing, education opportunities, restored parks and other community development and outreach projects.
