HP Inc. to Receive World Environment Center’s 2017 Gold Medal Award for Corporate Sustainability on May 11
WASHINGTON, D.C., May 9, 2017 /3BL Media/ -- The World Environment Center (WEC) is pleased to announce that the award ceremony of its Gold Medal for International Corporate Achievement in Sustainable Development will take place this Thursday, May 11, 2017. HP Inc. (HP) has been selected as the 2017 recipient, and will accept the Gold Medal Award during the 33rd annual Gold Medal Presentation Ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Stuart Pann, Chief Supply Chain Officer of HP, stated, “We are honored to be recognized by the World Environment Center for our ongoing commitment to reduce the environmental impact of our operations, supply chain, and products—and to empower individuals and communities everywhere. Our commitment to sustainability is based on our company values and is core to our business. We firmly believe it contributes directly to the long-term success of our customers, our partners, and HP.”
An independent jury selected HP’s application due to initiatives such as a commitment to zero deforestation, strategic alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, its comprehensive supply chain responsibility and circular economy efforts, and commitment to advocating on behalf of migrant workers and refugees.
Preceding the award ceremony, WEC will host its annual Gold Medal Colloquium, which this year focuses on the theme “Maintaining Momentum for Current and Future Sustainability Commitments.” Featured panelists will include distinguished guests such as former EPA administrators William Reilly and Gina McCarthy as well as Fred Krupp, president of the Environmental Defense Fund. Additional speakers from HP Inc., Unilever, Ingersoll Rand, and The Dow Chemical Company will also share their expertise. Both Gold Medal events are by invitation only.
The World Environment Center’s Gold Medal for International Corporate Achievement in Sustainable Development was established in 1985 to recognize significant industry initiatives in global environmental excellence and sustainable development. Recent recipients of the WEC Gold Medal Award are: CH2M (2016), SC Johnson (2015), Unilever (2013), IBM (2012), Nestlé (2011), Walmart (2010), The Coca-Cola Company (2009), and Marks & Spencer (2008).
The Gold Medal Jury is independent of WEC and its programs, and is composed of international leaders from academia, government, non-governmental organizations, and retired industry professionals.
