Hundreds of Univision Employees Volunteer During First-Ever Week of Service, Break Ground on Five New Univision Media Centers at Middle Schools Across the Country
“Despierta América” Rings In The Morning With A Special Coast-To-Coast LIVE Broadcast From Five Schools in Austin, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles and Oakland
NEW YORK, May 2, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media Company serving Hispanic America, today broke ground on five new Univision Media Centers at middle schools in Austin, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles and Oakland to culminate its Yo Soy Univision Contigo (I Am Univision Contigo) national employee week of service. Univision Network’s hit morning show “Despierta América” capped- off the week with a special coast-to-coast LIVE broadcast from all five schools in celebration of el Dia de Los Niños (Children’s Day).
From Puerto Rico to Los Angeles, hundreds of Univision employees participated in volunteer projects organized by Univision’s local stations and corporate offices. In addition to beginning work on five new Univision Media Center, volunteers served their local communities in various ways, including reorganizing local libraries, working with children at community centers, beautifying schools, and visiting children at domestic violence shelters and children’s hospitals, among others.

Popular Univision personalities Karina Banda, Alejandro Berry, Carlos Calderon, Lindsay Casinelli, Jessica Cediel, Chiquinquirá Delgado, Alejandra Espinoza, Jomari Goyso, Maity Interiano, Fernanda Kelly, Johnny Lozada, Karla Martinez, Raúl de Molina, Pablo “La Torre” Ramirez, Alan Tacher, Luis Sandoval and William Valdés traveled to Hernandez Middle School in Austin, TX, Para Los Niños Charter Middle School in Los Angeles, CA, Pulaski International School of Chicago in Chicago, IL, Ruben Dario Middle School in Miami, FL and United for Success Academy in Oakland, CA to volunteer alongside colleagues, students, teachers, parents and school administrators to help begin work on five new Univision Media Centers.
Univision held the ribbon-cutting of the first-ever Univision Media Center at the New Venture Community School in the Bronx, NY earlier this year. Univision Media Centers aim to provide students with experience in production and editing equipment in addition to receiving training from media professionals at UCI.
