I Am A...Chevron Lab Manager
When you think of Chevron, possibly a lab isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But, imagine a lab designed to blend fuel, run vehicles, build and tear down engines, and facilitate experiments by fuels engineers. This is exactly what happens at the Chevron Richmond Technology Center’s engine lab, and Brian Stefanick gets to lead that charge.
The mission of this lab is two-fold; it’s to research, develop and commercialize new additives, and then also continue to benchmark against our competitors and confirm Chevron with Techron’s unsurpassed cleaning and unbeatable mileage claim.
“We’re always pushing forward, looking at new, novel additives that could provide different functional benefits in today’s advanced combustion engines.” - Brian Stefanick, Engine Lab Manager, Chevron Richmond Technology Center
The lab consists of roughly 30 employees and contractors of varying backgrounds, including engineering support, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified mechanics and technicians who oversee the different functions of the lab. The operations staff look out for each other like family, and that culture is what keeps Brian looking forward to coming to work every day.
The impact of the work done in the engine lab translates to consumers. The lab takes pride in knowing that when consumers fill up at the pump, they’re getting unsurpassed cleaning power for their engine, which helps minimize emissions and fosters unbeatable gas mileage.
