I Can't Do This Alone: Greenspiration Home Calls Upon Homeowners from the 3BL Media Community for Shared Experience
by Trish Holder
Remember Frasier Crane's catchphrase: "I'm listening"?
Well, I am. Although some days it seems like I've already heard too much. As a writer and marketing consultant for the construction industry, and publisher of Greenspiration Home, I'm privy to information from a lot of different sources: builders, manufacturers, contractors, consumer research analysts, environmentalists, IAQ specialists, energy experts, green journalists, sustainability consultants, etc.
Being this much "in the loop" comes with a price. On any given day I run across conflicting information on everything from tax credits to the toxicity of sealants. Oftentimes this information is slanted or "spun" by groups or individuals to support their own agenda. Even for me, a journalist in the construction industry for many years, sorting through all this information to find the least little morsel of truth can feel overwhelming.
It's those times that I have to remind myself of the very clear, very simple mission of Greenspiration Home, which is to make useful information of the real life experiences of actual homeowners. Call it green building if you want to, but really Greenspiration Home is about helping homeowners make decisions that they are less likely to regret. And we do that by sharing real life experience. Yours. Mine. Ours.
Our content runs the gamut from stories about locally sourced decor to heat pumps. There doesn't have to be a happy ending. We simply want to share valuable, personal experiences in homeownership, stories that homeowners can relate to and that might save them time, money, or disappointment. So if you think we're not interested in that moldy shower stall that wasn't properly sealed in the first place, think again.
We want to hear from you. Email your story ideas to me, Trish Holder, at Trish@GreenspirationHome.com.
