Illumina Celebrates Shannon Whitmore: A Real Time Revolutionary and Scientific Computing Innovator

Shannon Whitmore is a Real Time Revolutionary who has been driving the field of scientific computing ever since developing a tool for visualizing the secondary structure of rRNA for her master's thesis.

She went on to be a core member of the start-up that developed DRAGEN, a highly accurate software and hardware system used to analyze sequencing data. The company was acquired by Illumina nearly four years ago, and Shannon has been here continuing to revolutionize the field ever since.

Now, she helps different groups at Illumina integrate DRAGEN into their platforms and has started a Women In Tech circle at Illumina to support women in technical roles.
