On Oct. 2nd  Whirlpool Corporation celebrated Manufacturing Day with its employees, and opened the doors of its manufacturing facilities to students and visitors. Manufacturing jobs are vital to a strong U.S. economy. For every dollar spent in manufacturing, an additional $1.37 is returned to our economy. There is a need, however, to show that manufacturing provides great career opportunities for young talent – changing the perception of the industry as dark and dangerous to one providing job opportunities that are innovative, advanced and secure.

Whirlpool Corporation is the number one major appliance manufacturer in the world. In the U.S., the company has 23,000 employees, including 15,000 manufacturing employees and 4,000 knowledge workers in the state of Michigan at its global headquarters. Each year, Whirlpool Corporation spends more than $7.4 billion to operate our nine U.S. plants and keep its approximately 15,000 manufacturing employees at work.

It has always made economic sense to have a significant manufacturing footprint in the U.S.  This is why we’ve evolved that footprint over the past 104 years, and why we’ve never left. For more information, visit www.whirlpoolcorp.com.
