Ingersoll Leader to Share Successful Sustainability Business Case Strategies at MAPI Forum
DAVIDSON, N.C., Sept. 16, 2015 /3BL Media/ – W. Scott Tew, executive director, Center for Energy Efficiency & Sustainability (CEES) at Ingersoll Rand, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, will cover strategic methods to link sustainability initiatives to business outcomes and cases at the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation’s (MAPI) Fall Sustainability Council Meeting.
Tew’s session will highlight winning strategies for embedding sustainability into business processes. He will provide foundational insight into the meaning and significance of appropriately translating sustainability initiatives throughout the organization – from the C-suite to global employees.
“Sustainability must become truly part of an organization – its culture, its values, its goals, its objectives – in order for it to be fully embraced and have a positive, lasting impact on business outcomes,” Tew said. “Framing sustainability in ways that directly relate to business objectives will set the proper foundation for successful programs.”
MAPI’s Sustainability Council Meeting spans two days in Dallas and features speakers from the U.S. Department of Energy, Dover and ThyssenKrupp. Tew is scheduled to speak on the opening day of the meeting.
In September 2014, Ingersoll Rand made public its climate commitment to achieve a 50 percent reduction in greenhouse gas refrigerant footprint of our products by 2020, and incorporating alternatives with lower global warming potential across the company’s product portfolio by 2030; make a $500 million investment in product-related research and development over the next five years to fund the long-term reduction of GHG emissions; and a 35 percent reduction in greenhouse gas footprint of our own operations by 2020.

W. Scott Tew is the founder of the Center for Energy Efficiency & Sustainability (CEES) at Ingersoll Rand and is responsible for forward-looking sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing resource demand of products and minimizing resource use within company facilities. In addition, he serves as a featured speaker and thought leader in linking public policy, economic impacts and sustainability. His recent efforts have led to the creation of the EcoWise product portfolio, an award-winning employee engagement program, and other innovative strategies aimed at reducing energy and climate-related impacts. He plays key roles in several important groups including: the EDGE Center for Energy and the Global Environment at Duke University and the U.S. and India Green Building Councils. Tew holds graduate and undergraduate degrees in environmental science and ecology from Livingston University. Prior to this role, Tew led high profile programs to advocate for energy efficiency, green buildings and global greenhouse gas emissions standards and policies.
