Ingersoll Rand Foundation Presents $100,000 Grant to the Urban League of Central Carolinas
June 23, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Ingersoll Rand Foundation presented a grant to the Urban League of Central Carolinas (ULCC) today to fund Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) National Certification training courses for under/unemployed individuals in the Charlotte area.
The event, hosted by the Ingersoll Rand Foundation, the Ingersoll Rand Black Employee Network, and the ULCC featured leaders from both organizations:
- Dr. Patrick Graham, President/CEO, Urban League of Central Carolinas
- Kaniche Cezar, Board Chair, Urban League of Central Carolinas
- Natural Scott, Urban League of Central Carolinas HVAC Graduate
- Dave Regnery, President, Trane Commercial HVAC North America and EMEA
- Tony Norwood, Vice President, HR Power Tools, Ingersoll Rand Davidson Co-Chair, Ingersoll Rand Black Employee Network
The grant will help connect skilled workers with area employers. A recent survey by Deloitte and The Manufacturing Institute found that nearly 70 percent of American manufacturing companies have a moderate to severe shortage of available, qualified workers.
“It is becoming increasingly important to raise awareness of this growing gap and support organizations like the ULCC that encourage individuals in the Charlotte area to get the necessary HVAC skills to pursue careers in manufacturing,” said Dave Regnery, president, Trane Commercial HVAC North America and EMEA at Ingersoll Rand and executive sponsor of the Ingersoll Rand Black Employee Network. “We are honored to help this organization and support the women and men working towards HVAC National Certifications.”
“The partnership announced today symbolizes the type of collaboration between corporations, not for profits and educational institutions needed to create stability for families. This investment will allow us to help more individuals obtain living wage jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities.” said Dr. Patrick Graham, president/CEO of the Urban League of Central Carolinas.
