Ingersoll Rand Leader to Discuss Climate Change Improvement Initiatives at Climate Leadership Conference
Nanette Lockwood to share progress on the company’s Climate Commitment and highlight barriers to industry-wide progress
Davidson, N.C., Feb. 23, 2015 /3BL Media/– Nanette Lockwood, global director, climate policy, for Ingersoll Rand (NYSE:IR), a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, will participate in a panel discussion at the annual Climate Leadership Conference, held Feb. 24, 2015 in Washington.
The annual conference brings together business, government, academic and non-profit leaders to discuss ways to improve climate change through policy, innovation and business solutions.
“In conjunction with the objectives of President Obama’s Climate Action Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the next decade, Ingersoll Rand is implementing a strategic plan to achieve substantial reductions at our operations worldwide,” said Lockwood. “We’re also working to reduce the direct greenhouse gas potential in our HVAC-R products to help our customers achieve their goals.”
Lockwood will participate in the session “Making Deeper Cuts: The Plan for Taking Out Higher GWP Gases” on February 24 from 2:15-3:30 p.m. The panel will focus on the social and economic effects that climate change is impacting across the globe and further explore how different communities are being affected, how companies are responding and initiatives currently yielding positive results. Panelists will address community responses to climate impacts, the economics of climate change and energy prices, the social cost of carbon, and other important drivers of decision-making and action by organizations.
Lockwood will also share insights on barriers to further progress, which include low customer demand for climate-friendly products and the need for updated codes and safety standards that account for new technologies. Lockwood will also provide an update on Ingersoll Rand’s Climate Commitment and the steps taken to date.
“Collaboration with leaders and global organizations will enable us to address ways we can all facilitate progress with this critical global, societal issue,” Lockwood said.

This commitment will result in the avoidance of approximately 20,850,000 metric tons of CO2e globally by 2020, which is equivalent to the energy used by nearly two million homes for one year.

Nanette Lockwood focuses on developing progressive climate-sensitive strategies and coordinating product-related public policy, codes and standards advocacy, globally via Ingersoll Rand’s Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability.
