Ingersoll Rand Leader Joins Clean Energy Panel at Climate Leadership Conference

Feb 24, 2014 8:00 AM ET

Davidson, N.C., February 24, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Scott Tew, executive director of the Center for Energy Efficiency & Sustainability (CEES) at Ingersoll Rand, will be a speaker for a panel discussion at the 2014 Climate Leadership Conference (CLC), February 24-26, 2014 in San Diego, Calif.

The CLC convenes around the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) prestigious Climate Leadership Awards and is jointly produced by the Association of Climate Change Officers, The Climate Registry and the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, with the EPA as the headline sponsor. Presenters and attendees will include thought-leaders from business, government, academic, and non-profit organizations. The event focuses on exploring energy and climate related solutions, introducing new opportunities, and providing support for those addressing climate change in their operations.

Tew will speak on a panel alongside executives from Kaiser Permanante, SC Johnson & Son, Southern California Gas Company and other sustainability-minded companies. He will provide insights on energy audits and share findings from an Ingersoll Rand case study report titled, “Don’t Waste Money on an Energy Audit. The report states:

Despite good intentions, year after year, energy audit reports pile up on the shelves of facility managers. Eventually, the question must be asked, “Why are we wasting money conducting audits whose recommendations don’t get implemented?” We believe the problem is not technical, it’s organizational. As a leading force in developing and applying energy saving solutions and services worldwide, advocating against energy audits might seem a bit peculiar.

Tew will discuss the organizational parameters that must be in place to conduct impactful energy audits as a best practice and primary vehicle for achieving better building performance.
