Ingersoll Rand Leader to Speak at 2015 Global Green Growth Forum in Chile
W. Scott Tew will share industry-leading expertise on building efficiency acceleration and sustainable development
DAVIDSON, N.C., June 18, 2015 /3BL Media/ – W. Scott Tew, executive director, Center for Energy Efficiency & Sustainability (CEES) at Ingersoll Rand, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, will join other thought leaders and policy drivers for two executive dialogue sessions at the 2015 Global Green Growth Forum (3GF) in Santiago, Chile on June 19.
Tew’s first session will share the approach of the Building Efficiency Accelerator, part of the UN Sustainable Energy for All’s efforts, and focus on key elements for success in implementing energy efficiency. He will join leaders from Philips Lighting, the Columbia Green Building Council and C40.
“With the global population expected to double in the next 12 years, and nearly two-thirds of that population expected to live in urban settings, the importance of creating efficient building policies and regulations has never been more pressing,” said Tew. “This session will emphasize the importance of collaboration and partnerships in accelerating the uptake of global building efficiency policies and practices as well as highlight the role that national and local governments need to play in realizing these efficiencies.”
His second session, entitled “Prosperity with Green Growth: Lifestyles, Sustainable Development and Climate Goals,” will explore the ways in which sustainable development goals can be achieved. Tew will discuss Ingersoll Rand’s recent Climate Commitment and will be joined during the discussion by leaders from Unilever and Consumers International.
This forum offers a platform for high-level representatives from governments, cities, private companies, banking and finance, international organizations, think tanks and civil society who seek to expand and accelerate green growth solutions through collaborative partnerships. The Forum aims to demonstrate that green solutions are at hand to confront climate change and its effects, to spur new engines of growth and to promote sustainable development.
In September 2014, Ingersoll Rand made public its climate commitment to achieve a 50 percent reduction in greenhouse gas refrigerant footprint of our products by 2020, and incorporating alternatives with lower global warming potential across the company’s product portfolio by 2030; make a $500M investment in product-related research and development over the next five years to fund the long-term reduction of GHG emissions; and a 35 percent reduction in greenhouse gas footprint of our own operations by 2020.

W. Scott Tew is the founder of the Center for Energy Efficiency & Sustainability at Ingersoll Rand and is responsible for forward-looking sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing resource demand of products and minimizing resource use within company facilities. In addition, he serves as a featured speaker and thought leader in linking public policy, economic impacts and sustainability. His recent efforts have led to the creation of the EcoWise product portfolio, an award-winning employee engagement program, and other innovative strategies aimed at reducing energy and climate-related impacts. He plays key roles in several important groups including: the EDGE Center for Energy and the Global Environment at Duke University and the U.S. and India Green Building Councils. Tew holds graduate and undergraduate degrees in environmental science and ecology from Livingston University.
