Ingersoll Rand Leaders Speak at United Nations Climate Change Conference in Lima, Peru
Davidson, N.C., Dec. 5, 2014 /3BL Media/ – W. Scott Tew, executive director for the Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability (CEES) at Ingersoll Rand, and Nanette Lockwood, global director of climate policy for CEES at Ingersoll Rand, will speak at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Lima, Peru. Ingersoll Rand is a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments.
Tew will speak at an event entitled Accelerating Energy, Emissions Savings in Urban Built Environments today, Dec. 5, 2014. Lockwood will take part in a discussion on A Climate Twofer – Integrating Sustainable Energy and Resilience on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014.
“Engaging at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Lima offers Ingersoll Rand the chance to provide a private sector perspective on how climate change is being addressed through sustainability efforts at a time when countries are contemplating commitments for the next climate agreement,” said Tew. “Private sector investment and leadership in low-carbon technologies will make an effective climate agreement more feasible.”
The United Nations Climate Change Conference is held annually in the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and serves as a formal meeting to assess progress in addressing global climate change. This year marks the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties will be hosted by the Government of Peru, in Lima, Peru.
About W. Scott Tew
Scott Tew is the founder and executive director of the CEES at Ingersoll Rand and is responsible for sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing resource demand of products and minimizing resource use in the company’s operations. He has helped develop a green product portfolio, personalized employee engagement programs, unique research on unmet needs in the green space, and sustainability-related solution concepts.
Tew holds degrees in environmental science and ecology from Livingston University. He plays key roles in the Alliance to Save Energy, the EDGE Center for Energy and the Global Environment at Duke University, the North Carolina New Schools Energy & Sustainability Council, and the US and India Green Building Councils, and has contributed to the book, “Practicing Sustainability”. He’s a featured speaker and thought leader in linking public policy, economic impacts and sustainability.
About Nanette Lockwood
Nanette Lockwood focuses on developing strategies and coordinating public climate policy and advocacy, globally. She works closely with internal Ingersoll Rand teams as well as external government, non-government, academic and industry organizations in her efforts to expand and refine product markets. She also leads the company’s efforts in the Montreal Protocol process.
Prior to joining the CEES in 2013, Lockwood managed government affairs for Solutia Inc., a specialty chemical company with a heavy focus on energy efficiency and construction markets. Before that, she worked to strengthen building codes in her role as director of engineering and building codes for the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), an insurance trade organization.
Lockwood is a licensed Professional Engineer. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and a Master of Science degree in environmental engineering from the University of South Florida; a Juris Doctorate from Concord Law School; and a Masters of Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School.
