Ingersoll Rand Offers Relocating Employees Two New Ways to Help Environment, Feed People in Need
When you think of relocating for a job, you may not think of the impact that relocation could have on your local community or the environment. Ingersoll Rand’s Global Talent Mobility Solutions team recently introduced two new programs for employees who are relocating, designed to help the environment and give back to local communities.
"We take Ingersoll Rand's sustainability commitment to heart," said Holly Clontz, Ingersoll Rand global talent mobility solutions manager.
Discard and donate
Through a partnership with Home Sweet Home, the Global Talent Mobility Solutions team now offers a discard and donate service to all company-supported relocations. Whether it's discarding an old microwave-oven or donating furniture to a family in need, Home Sweet Home helps relocating employees offload items they don't want to pack up and move to their new home.
Home Sweet Home manages the entire process with onsite support and provides employees with donation receipts for charitable tax deductions.
For every 1,000 pounds discarded or donated through Home Sweet Home, the National Forest Service will plant three trees in Ingersoll Rand's name. In just four years, Home Sweet Home's customer base has saved or planted close to 20,000 trees.
Move for Hunger
When people move, they throw out food; some of that food could be donated to families in need. With household goods partner, Suddath Relocation, the Global Talent Mobility Solutions team now offers relocating employees the services of Move for Hunger.
Move for Hunger is a non-profit organization that works with relocation companies to collect non-perishable food items and deliver them to food banks across North America. In the seven years since inception, it has donated 7,000,000 pounds of food.
The Move for Hunger donation process is simple for relocating employees: set aside unopened, non-perishable food items; the Move for Hunger crew then packs the items and delivers them to a local food pantry where food is sorted and delivered to local families in need.
